Do any target archers have opinions on the use of broadband dampeners for Olympic recurve setups?

I use them on two of my ILF recurve bows--they seem to make a little difference in vibration not sure if I am good enuf to detect it since neither bow vibrated all that much to begin with. They may help take some of the stress off the limb?? I hope they do-- I have read they take off a fps or so but have no real data for that.

Be curious to see if anyone tested this. I have seen them placed out towards the "working" section of the limb, that would undoubtedly reduce speed since you're increasing the mass out towards the ends. I wonder if it really has any effect placed down towards bottom of limb.

In my tests it depended on the limb. In a Hoyt Quattro foam core limb they actually made quite a big difference - it wasn’t loud to start with but there was a little residual vibration - the BB damper cured that. On a woodcore Quattro limb they did absolutely nothing. Once the alignment was good there was nothing to fix. On a Velos limb (70” on 27” and 25” Formula risers) they did nothing - even though there was a little noise and vibration (initially). So I thing it depends on the frequency of vibration.

I only tried them at the fade out.

Rigi makes ones that slide on the limb rather than being held on by adhesive. This lets you place them exactly where you like, and figure out where that is much more easily. I was skeptical about them moving around, but a few Italian archers have been using them for years now with no issues

I put a set of broadbands on all my bows, depending on the setup they either help a lot of a little bit.

As far as speed, I've done speed tests in the past with them with the most recent one being the Wiawis NS-Foams. It actually resulted in 1fps increase when I placed the limbsavers on the fade. For all my other limbs its probably either +/- 1fps or no change in speed.
