I have had many requests for videos on BH sharpening and I want to do it, I just haven't got around to it yet. Well being it is 100* out, I thought today would be a good day to start on one portion.
This is a video on sharpening new or slightly dull replaceable blades, not really dull beat up blades, save that for another time.
I hope it helps all those who have expressed an interest and maybe we can get a sticky on this so more people see it and it doesnt get lost.

This is one reason this website is so GREAT.I think even Texas 10 can even get one sharp after that. You should have wore your TINK 69 shirt.

all you need is a piece of leather?? man.

I was thinking the same thing. No stone or alternate sharpener of any sort, just a piece of leather and some compound

Thanks for the time you put into this stuff. It's pretty much the way I do it too. I've only killed a turkey with the Slick Trick, but I'm going to take some whitetails with it and mine are shaving sharp. You're right the Lansky/Gatco holder is worth the money alone to strop blades. Those sharpeners Lansky/Gatco are great for hunters.

You're welcome, I hope that all your bh's will be shaving sharp. You can also do 2 blade (or single blade as some call them) such as Stingers, Sivler Flames, etc. I had a guy who brought some year old Stingers over and were used and all I did was what you saw in the video and they came out sharp, with no hones or stones used. When I use my hones, I use the leather to finish off the job. You can also do the same thing with knives to get them very sharp.
The strop compound I got at: http://www.woodcarvers.com/yellowstone.htm
The leather is from a welders jacket. I belt or some other good (no oil) leather will work. If you want a strop, you can get one here: http://woodcarvers.com/Strops1.htm

Swoosh, I normally dont sharpen on that portable table but on my work bench....did you take dramamine? :D

Riverghost, you ever use that T word again and I will SUE your sorry butt:eyebrows: Andddd, I hope all the hogs near you wind you :chortle:

Jeff, you gotta come to NJ to see that Edge Pro in action  I just did Rick's knife and well I'll let him tell you how many stitches he got (he didnt go away, he cant type now :ROFLMAO: )

Joey, when I get wound up, I can talk alot faster......:scared: :eyebrows: :D
