i was wanting to try my hand at turkey hunting with a bow but was wondering what type of broadhead would you use to do this would it be the same as my deer or different
You can definitely use the same broadheads you use for deer. I've killed them with old Thunderhead 125's and Muzzy Phantom 125's. With fixed broadheads, precision accuracy is required, either through heart/lung or spine. A lot of people like
1 3/4"+ cut diameter mechanicals because longer blades are more likely to cut vitals.

Another one of those threads where the OP's post disappears and the first responder moves into the #1 position. From the quote, I would agree with XX78. A wider cut mechanical that flies well, impacts with authority and does a bunch of damage is a good route for birds.

I'm a newbie, but happy to find this thread as I was going to ask a similar question. I saw some decapitator broadheads, like the Magnus Bullhead. Will be my first time turkey hunting and my biggest concern with a fixed broadhead through the vitals is the loss of meat. Is that just something that people accept?

I've shot a lot of turkeys with a bow. I've tried all kinds of heads and I think the over the top expandable are the best. It just seems to put them down, maybe they get one step. Rocket Sidewinders always come to mind. Wasp Jakhammer SST as well. I always used 100 grain. Best of luck
