Hi I recently purchased a couple old bows at a yard sale recently. when I got home I noticed one of the bows ( a browning cobra built around 1974-1985) had a broken lower cam, and I used the draw string off it on one of my other browning cobras I got.

I know the bow is old, and probably not worth much, but I kinda like the bow and it bothers me that the bow itself is in excellent shape and the only real thing wrong with it is the lower cam and I stole the draw string off it... I really want to fix it if it's economically possible for me. I do not know much about bows or archery but I'm interested and want to learn.

If anyone has any ideas about how I can get another cam and draw string I'd really appreciate it. (I'd prefer not to scrap out another bow if I don't have to, especially since this is such an old bow I'd like to try to get the stuff new if possible. maybe if someone still has old stock or a re manufactured part?)

thanks for any help

Economical? For the string, yes. But the cam is another story. I'd say that finding a cam for it is going to be rather difficult as a part...maybe put a posting in the general archery discussion. your best bet would be to simply find another cobra bow or find some old wheels from a different bow that would work.

here is your cheapest bet

Strings...you can get someone to make you a set out of B-50

Cables will need to be replaced...tear drops have a tendency to pull off with age. Not too many people can make you a set...I know of only 2 people

Viking archery in Houston Texas
Santa Fe archery in Santa Fe Texas

Cost? too much (100+ bucks) but if you like the bow and just want it as a shooter you may have to fork out the extra dollars

Yahoo or Google will get you many. Or, click on the ebay link

Crap! I've got to stop looking at these bows...my wife will be pissed if I show up with another one (unless it's "pretty")

Browning use to have great customer service. 15 years ago a quick phone call to Browning and your cam would be in the mail. But I hear that is no longer the case. Just the same, I'd start with a call to Browning and see where that leads.
