I have a buck 110. Got it as a gift from my employer. Honestly there are a lot of better knives with way better blade steel for less money on amazon. Also a lot lighter in weight.

My 110 is super sharp and is a great knife. Buck really does get the most it can out of the 420hc steel.
With a fine and ultra fine Lansky stone plus a strop with jewelers compound, I can get my 110 as sharp as any Soligen Lutz replaceable broadhead blade. Im very careful field dressing.

I didn’t realize they offered an S30V version of the 110.

They’re both stainless steel but the S30V offers better durability, edge retention, and general longevity. The cons of S30V are that it’s way more expensive and much harder to sharpen than 420HC.

I like a fixed blade knife better as a tool. One of my favorites has been the Butterfly Hidden Canyon. I mostly hunt white tail and find this to be the perfect size.
Interesting S30V steel is harder to sharpen. That is an undesirable trait for me. I only use my 110 during deer season and it is easy to sharpen.

I liked the Outdoor Edge replacable razor blade system, but I got tired of cleaning the gunk that gets in all the crevices after the field dressing process, so I switch to a Morakniv fixed blade. Cheap, comfortable handle, easy to clean, and easy to sharpen.
I just stick my Havalon in the dishwasher. Just don’t tell the wife.

I have a Buck 110 and use it on almost every deer. I lost it back around 1980 and I looked for 4 days before I finally found it in shoulder high buffalo grass..

We bought one of my sons a Buck 110 when he started hunting. I have a Buck 110 Slim Select. My all time favorite and most used is a Bucklite 422 I bought brand new for I think $12 back in the early eighties. Gutted and skinned many whitetails with it. Easy to sharpen and stays sharp.

I could see myself lying in bed wanting to go back next day to find it.

I really prefer a guthook design for field dressing and have a fixed blade Buck "Zipper" that has done a lot of work over the years. I have a few different folders by Gerber in different packs that I like as well.

I’ve been carrying a Buck 110 Folding Hunter for several years for all of my field dressing work. I can get some incredibly sharp edges with my Lansky and so far the knife has done well.

I was looking at some other knives for field dressing and skinning, but I’m not sure there will be an appreciable improvement over my Buck.

Anyone using a Buck Folding Hunter or did you use one in the past?
It is the only one I have used for close to 30 some years. I have no intention of using anything different.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve gutted every animal I’ve harvested with my buck knife. My dad gave it to me on my birthday I believe sometime around my first year gun hunting. So probably 10-12 years old. I still got it. 34 years old now. Kind of interesting, 3 years ago I decided to buy a cool looking browning fixed blade and carried that for a season. That season I had a handful of really unfortunate thing happen in the woods. Some my fault and some out of my control. Either way I’m pretty sure that browning fixed blade is cursed and it’s no longer in my gear bag. Probably hocus pocus, no dice tho.

I love my Buck 110, but eventually moved to a smaller fixed blade as it was easier to clear after field dressing. The 110 will always be my truck knife though :)

I started with a Buck 110 my dad bought me 40+ years ago- pictured. I‘ve dome over 100 hogs with that knife.

Now, we have so many better options. Its all about the steel.

I've been carrying the buck 105 for 40 or more years. Does everything I need a knife to do when hunting. I also carry a small folding knife for stuff i don't want to dull the 105 on. I like the sheath on my belt better than a folding knife in my pocket, just because it's easier to clean and I can get to it quicker if attacked by a bear
What do you think of the 105 for deboning/skinning deer? Been going back and forth between the 102 and 105. Love the 102, just think the 105 may be better for deboning/skinning and has a bigger handle

I have several Buck knives, the original 110 stays in the drawer in retirement and the Bucklite and my favorite the Buck 393 pro folder with guthook. The guthook is the real ticket to extracting Elk ivories and the deep belly make for quick work when weather dictates getting the meat cooled ASAP.

I like it a lot for everything from gutting, skinning and deboning, to being long enough for slicing up the meat. Think the blade is about the same width as the 102. The extra length is comfortable to hold and works good getting in to skin around the front shoulder. I also got the 119 as a gift. It's too big. Still new in the box waiting for the day I need it for self defense.

I’ll have to pick one up, thanks for the reply 👍🏼

I love that Benchmade and always wanted one but never pulled the trigger. My favorite knife is my LT wright in AEB-L steel
