or a big one......why not just post your success and not have to classify your deer to some standard....same thing with killing a doe....killing a deer with a bow is difficult.

Because the TV hunting shows and horn worshippers have everyone convinced that they should only be proud of bucks with big racks.

because if they dont the elitests will complain that they wasted their time and how dare someone kill a small deer, i personally dont care but some people evidently want to make others feel bad. theyre just giving them a warning

trophy deer

Some places there are monster bucks, other places 15 inch spread eight points are the biggest bucks in the area. Really trophys like beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.
It's nice to share stories, pics of your trophy on AT.
Some guys just don't get it that it's a trophy in the OP's eyes and he's proud of it.
To belittle a deer posted on here because of it's size or sex really just shows how ignorant people are about what a trophy really is.IMO.
Think back to when you first started hunting and imagine someone telling you that the first archery deer you ever shot was a little one and you should have passed him up.:(
Keep this in mind next time you want to post " should have passed him up".

My taxidermist once told me that any deer taken with archery tackle should be considered a trophy, and i agree.

This is very true, it is when we belittle our own kill by saying...'its' not a monster..." sometimes it is like the hunter is saying "well this deer doesn't really matter...". I just think we should be happy with what we kill and not minimize the animal......time to go kill some foam....

If a hunter belittles his own kill, I usually ask them why they shot it then.

Any deer taken with a bow is a trophy. All things are relative I guess but I really get tired of hearing a professional hunter say that's a management buck or just too small to take when it would be considered a monster buck almost anywhere else. To each his own. I usually turn the channell at that point.

Great point. I personally could care less what anyone shoots as long as it's legal. I have been fortunate to kill some nice deer & many many more that many would not consider nice but they were each & every one legal. We tend to get too caught up in the horn porn IMO. Each and every deer taken with a bow deserves respect. I personally would much rather read about a doe taken with a good hit than a monster that was lost due to poor shot selection or a story with questionable ethics & irresponsible behavior. We owe it to the animals we hunt to do it right. Don't get me wrong we have all made mistakes but some behavior makes me wonder why some people even carry a bow in the woods & call themselves bowhunters. To me the label bowhunter is something that means we take pride in every aspect of the hunt. It also means that we go above and beyond when it comes to ethics & standards. I'm the guy anyone can come to & I will help them track a wounded animal, etc.. To me thats what our sport should be about. Not trying to make ourselves look better by belittling someone else's kill or making snide comments about something done totally within the law & with good ethics. Then thats just my take on bow hunting & I do not push that on others. It's just the way I see my participation in this sport.
