I have owned the Sitka downpour before and liked it. I saw the Cabelas Outfitter pattern in the packable MT050 and wondering if the extra money for the Sitka is worth it considering limited use as a packable rain set?

I've never had the sitka stuff due to price but I have several mto50 items from cabelas and have been very happy with them.

I tried on the 2015 Downpour, and the sleeves were extremely tight. I couldn't get it on over top of the celsius or the stratus. I'm not sure why they chose to make it so tight. I also don't like that it doesn't have pit zips. So...I would get something else. The Core4 Torrent is very similar to the downpour, and it has pit zips. Or check out Sylo gear that is being offered on camofire.

I have MTO50 packable stuff and did get a little wet in a torrential downpour through a pocket on the pants. Great thing about cabelas is guaranteed for the life of the product, if it ever leaks just send it back. Know nothing about Sitka, way out of my price range, sure does look fancy though.

I just bought the mt050 whitetail extreme set and haven't got to try it yet but I have several friends that love it. I have the cabelas X6 parka and bibs too and it's extremely warm and comfortable but a little more bulky than the mt050. I have never owned any Sitka clothes but I've heard good things about them.

Depends what you are going to use it for. MT050 is great stuff. I love it for treestand hunting. But does not pack up and small and light as other brands like Sitka or Kuiu.

So if you are going to be strictly treestand or blind hunting I would go with the Cabelas. If you are thinking for out west and a lot of movement on a spot and stalk hunt I would look for other options.

I have used it for both treestand and for western hunting, and that is just my opinion.

Not on my MT 050 rain gear, but I do use the outfitter pattern for my micro tech pants and jacket which I wear for both treestand hunting and for out west. I love that pattern! I'm disappointed that Cabelas is going to most of their zone camo for their newer hunting clothing. Wish they would stick with the outfitter.

I also have a pair of wooltimate bibs in outfitter camo for real cold weather.

My comment from before was based solely on the material and clothing not the camo pattern.

For you guys with MTO50...Have you wore it in heavy, continuos rain? My issue/experience with MTO50 has been that in a down pour, you WILL get soaked and the stuff takes forever to dry. On a positive side, it is comfortable and will keep you dry in a light rain.

For treestand rain gear, it is tough to beat the Sitka Downpour. For general use, packable rain gear, the Sitka Dewpoint is tough to beat. The differences between the Downpour and Dew Point are several, pick what best suits your needs. I own both and wouldn't want to be without either. If you are looking for packable, go Dew Point. If you are looking for something quiet go Downpour. I've tested rain gear from virtually all of the hunting manufacturers and quite honestly, there are TONS of better options than MTO50 in my experience.

I've had the MT050 whitetail extreme parka, bib and pants since 2002. They are phenomenal pieces of gear that have stood up to 13 years of rigorous whitetail and goose hunting.

I've also has the mt050 rain gear jacket since 2003 for turkey and whitetails. The longest downpour I have exposed that jacket to was 6 hours of torrential rain. I was not wet at the end of that sit.

MT050 is phenomenal gear. I don't own a piece of Sitka gear and never intend to as long as cabelas continues the MT050 line.
