X5B is a great area with a some good bucks. Never hunted it, have talked to a lot of others that have. From my impression, the area is most private land. You could always put in for it & see what happens... Some of the tags are random drawl.
I have hunted it a bit in early 2000. Never saw any great bucks, but didn't scout it as much as I should have. To many roads, with way to many road hunters. I liked X6b better. But I spent more time there. Both units will hold bucks. Scout early and often. You should have a good hunt
I know a couple guys that have done it with a bow, one killed a small buck the other killed a nice 5x5...lots of open country, most guys gun hunt it...my buddy killed a great buck with his bow in x6a last year....he had opportunities every day. These were all X3B rifle kills...
