Need a new field dressing kit, I only hunt Whitetail's and Turkey. Can anyone recommend a good kit for a reasonable price?

Yup. Just a knife, but I also have a small bone saw for splitting the pelvis.

I have a couple.

Sog revolvers ( I have two).

Gerber with upswept gutting blade w/protective tip.

I heard of a couple of deer being gutted with a broadhead, don't think that was their first choice of tool but I guess it worked.

I forgot a knife for our early season bow opener last saturday. I ended up using my practice slick trick blades and a pair of paper scissors. Both were dull as heck. Getting the butt out was a pita. Hope I dont make that mistake again.

My favorite:

Outdoor Edge® Kodi Pak

Butcher by trade last 12yrs.A $20 forshner 6" boning knife will break and cut a deer in short order and keep edge with minor steel work.Cheap, lasts forever and will flex to bone out any primals, yet cut straps ect for steaks ect.

But many other options, a good blade will do it but boning out is best with a slightly flexible blade (not a thick heavy blade). My half cents.

I will add for field dressing it works but a tad long overall with no sheeth to carry.I gut and break down (quarter ect) pack out then use my forshner 6" boning knife. It might be just me used to using one daily but they work very well and hold edge at a very very great price.

you plan on taking it to the field with you? Or for at home butchering? usually all i take is my same tree saw and 2 sharp knives. I have a fixed blade gerber and a havalon piranha.

For field dressing use a knife and saw. After that use a havalon to skin it and a fillet knife to butcher.

Outdoor Edge's kit is the best IMO for full butchering duties. However, a good sharp 4" drop point blade knife will take care of all field dressing.

I use my case to field dress. When it comes time to skin and quarter up I use one of those cheap break away blade box cutters. I use my case to cut tje ligament holding the ball joints together and a hacksaw for the legs.

Outdoor edge knives are scary sharp. I got a kit as a gift last year, it's turned into the best gift ever. I've used it on frog, chicken, turkey, hogs, rabbit, squirrel, no deer yet though. I've seen 2 people cut themselves on these knives, so use caution... like I said scary sharp right out of the wrapper.

I like my schrade sharpfinger. I broke the tip using it as not a knife so I'd like to find an old USA one but it's easy to sharpen and still popped hairs after skinning last years deer.
