Anodize Bows?

More specifically the Bowtech sentinel, I know the riser is aluminum but I'm not sure if the limbs are, and if indeed they are. Would the anodizing process damage them in any way. Also could the cams be anodized?

Currently my bow is Firestorm Candy red, which is really not to my liking but I love the way the bow shoots.

All the work (anodizing) would be carried out by a friends company that are specialists at anodizing paintball markers.

I don't think any polishing would be needed, as I'm wanting a dust finish. And as for stripping the current "paint" it would get acid dipped, therefore removing the current finish. I know the riser can be done no issues, but its the limbs Im unsure of.

This is what i want to know, are the limbs aluminum? if they are, can they be anodized. If they are anodized will drawing the bow (i.e putting them under pressure) crack the anno, and subsequently making the whole process pointless.

I''ve asked the company/friend but they are very busy atm so had no reply

Cheers for any help guys

As far as I know the limbs are not aluminum, the cams might be though.

yeah the limbs are a laminated material you cant really do much to them but cams should be fine yust make sure there are no burs and what not when you are done.

careful!

The cam bushings/bearings must not be sujected to whatever chemistry is needed for anodizing.

In my opinion, You should chemically strip the riser b4 the anodizing process is started.

Riser and Cams can be annodized. Both are likely 6061 aluminum. Make sure before you are having the bow and cams done that you remove any inserts that may be in either (ie: stainless stabalizer insert if there is one and the axle bearings in the cam). Your friend may have already told you that.

Limbs are composite and you cannot annodize. You could always get them film dipped or powdercoated if they currently will not match your new color scheme.

Good Luck
