This was my first hand held release. I switched to it from a wrist strap release from Fletcher. I have heard that the Chocolate addiction is a rather big release but although my hands are not the biggest I still feel comfortable with it. It's a nice quality release! The way you can justify the position of the thumb trigger is great. So you can find the optimal postition of the trigger to fit to your hand. I would recommand this release any time.
The Chocolate does make an audible click.
However it is quiter than the Stan SuperX and TruBall T handles except their "Diamond" series which I can shoot do to the travel.
I plan on hunting it this season.
I took two deer with my SuperX without issue last year so the Chocolate will be fine.
Like Rev I have two of them and one is a back-up. I started using one just before deer season last year just for the reasons you mention. I haven't used anything else. They do make a "click" sound but tell that to the deer that already had an arrow through them before they knew what hit them. I don't think the noise it makes should be a deterrant from hunting with one
I doubt the audible sear release noise on the Chocolate Addiction is any louder than the rest of the noise the bow makes on release. I used mine this past year, but wasn't able to get a decent shot on a deer due to factors that had nothing to do with the release I was using. I did skewer a nice gobbler with the Chocolate Addiction. He didn't seem to notice the noise until it was way too late. I'll be using it again this year.
Been using the 4-finger Chocolate now for several years bowhunting. I just clip it on the d-loop after I get set up in the tree and let it hang over the cable guard rod. Shot several deer with it this way and not a one ever noticed any "click" when the release when off.
I don't have a Chocolate, but I have a Just B-Cuz, and it is a 3 finger. I thought that I would have been better off with a 4 finger, but I like the 3 better. It allows me to rotate the release so that the trigger is closer to my thumb, and it helps with the surprise effect.
It quite possibly could. I have heard of it changing on other people who have switched. I changed from a Scott Mongoose to the 4 finger and my anchor stayed the same best I can tell. I have two buddies who also use the Chocolate and they prefer the 3 finger. See if you can find a place who will let you try both. Good luck.
I've used the 4 finger Choc Add for hunting for the past 2 years. I shoot 80# on my hunting setup and find that the 4 finger gives you more controle on the draw. The "click" doesn't bother me and the animals I've hunted hasn't said anything yet,,,
I bought one last week and thought it was too big after shooting my Stan SuperX meduim. Once I tried to shoot it with a glove on I found that the larger size of the Chocollate 4 finger was a good thing. It is a little loud but I think thats mainly due to the fact that the release is going off right next to your ear. I love that this release clips on the loop by cocking the trigger. My Super X is a pain to load on the loop. I plan on hunting with my Chocolate. My only regret is I would love to try the three finger model to see if I would like that better. Maybe next year...
Fantastic release. They've been around a long time. If the noise was a factor then they wouldn't have sold so many and discontinued it. You'll love it. And like others here, buy a second.
Good luck to you
