Cat Whiskers String Silencers - TIP

Seen several cat whiskers threads lately so thought i would post a tip. Yes, they are great string silencers and no you don't lose much speed and not enough to worry about. I will take the noise reduction over a few FPS any day for hunting.

You can buy fishing bait rubber skirts by the foot or small spool to make jig bait tails at places like Pro Bass and its dirt cheap. Plus they have numerous colors to choose from for this into the color thingy on bows.

To learn to tie that "Rubber Ball" just go to youtube and search "Cat Whisker Tying" and you will find step by step videos. Google "constrictor knot" and you can find animated pictures you can print for step by step on how to tie that knot as well, this helped me a bunch.

I have black/brown/green strands, looks good. Used fishing tail material that I bought many years ago and still have some left.

What you are doing will work but IMO they work better if the aren't so close to the ends of the string. The goal is to stop as much vibration as you can having them towards the center a bit more helps because you are making the string sections "shorter" and a shorter string vibrates less than a longer string.

It also takes away a little more speed but like you said a few FPS in the big picture is moot. It really cracks me up when people are shooting 288 FPS and then won't use string dampeners because they would be shooting slow @ 281 FPS but much quieter.

IMO the ones that say there bow is quiet without have never really tried them because like you once you really do the results are blatantly obvious.

The balls are nice and look great too but I think they are more effective tied in like this. Either way they work well....at that point you are splitting hairs really.

Man.....that bow looks quiet JUST hanging there........lol

I have actually zip tied mine on using small zip ties. I will post a pic tonight if I have time to take pics. Mine created a small ball and was easily achievable.

Thread from the dead.........lol. There are all kinds of vid's on YouTube on how to tie them on. Many people have gotten away from them but if you want the MOST quiet rig in the woods you need to still tie em' on.

Cool cats I believe is what I used and they are really nice compared to other brands I tried. I also will link a good explanation video in the morning for you. It really helped me learn how to tie them.
