I have 2 3d deer I shoot on a daily basis. Both vitals were shot up pretty good, and I was getting some pass thru's.I decided before I dished out money for new replacement vitals, I would try to fix them. I bought a can of expandable foam that you use for weatherproofing, filling up gaps in joints ect.. I filled every hole I could see on the vitals front and back.Let it set up, then trimmed it off flush on both sides.I have about 100 shots each in them now, and they are like new.Just thought I would share this with everyone.

You know I read an article long time back about using foam. It holds up and is a cheaper fix. I dont mind replacing the vitals, but the whole deer, so I need to patch mine when I get back!

Also, read an article, especially if you are a turkey hunter with a bow. Take an old decoy, and put a layer of foam in, when it dries add another, and eventually as you layer it, you put in a stake to anchor to the ground and after the deke is filled you have a 3D turkey target that was cheaper then buying one..... hey I buy new decoys all the time so why not recycle and get moneys worth out of older ones!

Bought the foam at menards, its called great stuff. One can was plenty for both vitals.Shot another 100 arrows today, seems to be working great.Arrows pull out alot easier also.

i've done this also...for even denser foam one can put tape, cardboard over the area quickly and it won't have to be trimmed off so much.(may take longer to dry)
but only once...too many times it will get too dence...hard as a 2x4
but the foam works great..."TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT"

Great Stuff Works

5 yrs ago I had a deer target "removed" by a bear, leaving chunks of foam where the target was. 2 weeks later my standing bear was beaten up pretty bad by a bear and its head "removed". A month after the head went missing, I found it on one of my walks on my property. The head had bee hollowed out from the back of the head to the nose. A week after archery season ended, the deer body was returned under my buddy's stand. I took both home and with a can of GREAT STUFF, filled in the head and added layers to rebuild the rump and briskit of the deer. Spray painted each and they work just like new. GREAT STUFF
