So I'm thinking of buying a Cheap shot 130 to bowfish with. The price is right and I like the way it cocks. What are your thoughts on these??

When you go bowfishing, how to you plan to attach the fishing line spool to the crossbow and the end of the line to the arrow?
Vertical bows used a reel attached to the bow and the end of the fishing line was attached near the end of the arrow. If your
arrow is not attached to the bow, good by arrow whether you hit the fish or the arrow stays in the fish or passes through it. One
has to have control of the arrow to retrieve it and or the arrow and the fish.

I viewed the video on the Cold Steel website. It appears to function okay. I personally would be leery from my experience when
I purchased the Cheap Shot Broadheads from that company. If these broad heads did not snap into pieces when they hit a target,
hitting something hard, like frozen ground, the teeth wore off and then the part that screwed into the arrow shaft insert snapped.

All the best with what ever you decide.

I'm planning on fabricating a mount for an ams crossbow fishing reel and using the ams fishing bolts. And yeah I want something cheap I can take to the river bank and not worry about getting it a little dirty. Lol I'll probably go with a Mk 150 to be honest just for the fact that it shoots regular bolts not special 2 vane bolts like the cheap shot. I just like the cocking device and the compact size of the cheap shot. Might buy one just for plinking around the yard and use the Mk for the river.

Take it from somebody who knows a lil sumptin about sticking fish-there’s a reason virtually nobody uses a x-bow to shoot fish. Actually there’s a pile of reasons. Seriously.

Can you not shoot a low weight compound? For bowfishing it doesn’t take much, 20-30lbs tops. All you’re gonna get with that thing is frustrated and possibly injured.

Unless it’s due to a physical issue, I’d deep six the x-bow idea and shoot a compound....or even a recurve.

Too bad you don't have a chance to shoot this sweet little Man Kung forcefeeder rig; instantly change your mind. 150 lb draw, red dot, homebrew 1140 grain harpoon on an AMS jug reel. I'll never part with this rig until it drops from my dead hands!

It has similarities to the Bruin Attack 265 that I bought for my wife to try. It has limb tip that allow a stringer to easily change or adjust strings. Trigger is not good. Lots of noise and vibration for a low power bow. As others have said, not sure how you would set up the fishing accessories. Unless I’m missing it, I don’t see a trigger guard. We sent the Bruin back.

Reviving an old thread. But wanted to ask if you ever ended up trying the Cheapshot for fishing?

I cannot find anything except this thread on anyone with the idea for using it to bowfish. I had the similar idea to see how it would perform but wanted to research before buying. This xbow seems to have good reviews, and with it’s slower bolt speed similar to compound bow performance I’m hopeful it wouldn’t blowthrough fish like stronger xbows often do.

Thanks for any feedback in advance!

I can’t really find to much info on the cheapshot 130 and I’ve been looking for answers to some questions I have but I can’t seem to find answers ..anyway I recently picked up the CH130 and was wondering how much it take when I comes to draw weight I added a jaxce backbone to it so it’s at 160lbs and shooting around 40 more fps so like 270fps and it still works perfectly…if not better. I was wounding if it can handle more like a 175lb limb without having to modify the actual crossbow to much
