Cold Weather (and other) Hunting Clothing

I know there is a much bigger selection for women's hunting clothing than previously, but I still find it very difficult to find quality women's hunting clothing at a reasonable price. Sitka has a limited women's line, but they are very expensive and they're women's line is very limited compared to the men's line. Cabela's has the Outfitther line, but I find the cold weather stuff to be very bulky, and honestly not really properly made to accommodate women's curves. Does anyone have any suggestions for good and comfortable hunting clothing that they are wearing? I'm specifically looking for extremely cold weather gear, but would live to hear any recommendations. Even if you're wearing men's stuff, what do you recommend? Thanks!

I switched to wool baselayers this last season. Plus add a lot of hand warmers to all my pockets. It really is hard to find something that fits. Guys pants are way too tall in the waist and short legs. Womens are too short in the waist and too short in the inseam. Or they are too skinny and flashy, or noisy. LOL I wish I could be of more help but have the same problem as you.

Academy's Sporting Goods stores carry a brand called Magellan that seems to fit me just right & not that expensive. I've also bought some She from Bass Pro that is made by Redhead & have loved what I've gotten of theirs. I love Under Armor for my base layers. Redhead wool socks are the best! Just placed an order with Prios which is made for women by women - have heard excellent things so I'm anxious to try their stuff as well. Have a few items from Sitka for women-very pricey stuff but haven't really gotten a chance to try anything other than the expensive hoodie from their Elevated line.

Thank you ladies! I also layer. I like the base layers I have, I don't have a problem finding those since it's such a big market and have buying them forever. Lol :) It's really the mid and outer layers I have a hard time finding that are bowhunting specific. I take a look at your suggestions.

For mid-season, I wear River's West or Walls 10x women's line. When it's really cold, I just layer up underneath some Natural Gear fleece bibs and parka. I've had my eye on the She brand at Bass Pro but haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing those yet.

My wife and daughter both wear Prois, they are based in Gunnison Colorado and make great gear. The ladies there know hunting and good gear. There are many options for layering so you can get the insulation right for various conditions.

I layer and had sitka before they came out with womens line I use merino wool, these pink "rocky" thermals. (warmest thing I ever owned). But for super cold I have a set of the incinerator from sitka They are very warm

I acquired most of my "wardrobe" before they started making women's hunting apparel. I wouldn't wear it even if it had been available. Hunting clothes need to be somewhat roomy for comfort, not tight fitting. You have to be able to move freely, and stay warm. Men's M has been my go-to size for years, and sometimes I even buy a Large if the cut is narrow (like Sitka) or I want to layer. This isn't a fashion show.......and pink camo is just plain silly IMHO.

I struggled with staying warm without feeling like the Michelin man for years until I broke down and bought a pair of Under Armour women’s fleece bibs and coat. They aren’t super thick but I layer thermals underneath. I was amazed at how warm I stayed without the huge bulky layers. I ordered my bibs from Under Armours clearance online and got them for half price!

IMO, Layering is key. Get some good wool base layers. I have a heater body suit for stand hunting in the cold and that is the ticket as far as I'm concerned.

I guess I pick and choose, I don't have a specific brand that I love.
I have Prois raincoat and pants- like them alot. The hunting pants are way too short in the rise for me, I usually just buy men's pants. I have their neck gator and after a couple of washings it's very comfortable.
I wear Icebreaker as under layers and midlayers. Sometimes I wear a down puffy jacket that i bought from Costco ( 14$) under my jacket.
I wear Rivers west pants and coat most of the year ( not early archery- too hot), but they don't breathe really well, I tend to be cold so don't worry about breathability too much.
For extreme cold I have Columbia Gallatin wool pants , or Cabela's outfitter ( men's) wool coat kind of bulky but warm.
I know my husband like his Under armour stuff, but the men's is way too long for me.

Most things I have bought used... I have recently lost 15 lbs and have about 15 more to go so will have to be on the lookout for smaller stuff at the thrift store :)

I wish there were better choices!!

Theresa, First Lite has added a women's line that has a few cold-weather pieces like a camo puffy coat. I have their lightweight rainjacket, the Stormlight jacket that I really like for backpack hunting, and then for cold weather still hunting I wear a big old down jacket under it. For legs, long underwear and insulated synthetic puffy pants (Montbell makes reasonable priced insulated pants) under camo rainpants (First Lite Stormtight pants, mine are mens). The First Lite stuff is spendy, but you can sign up for an email list and they will send you "flash sale" info. My real go-to in cold weather is a thermos of hot Tang (the powdered orange drink)--that stuff is magic!
