If I remember correctly the pins on the Viper and Sure Loc taper down considerably and then flare out at the end to accept the end of the fiber. Copper John pins on the other hand are flat stock with a protective channel cut into them so they appear a little wider at the fiber end of the pin but I can assure you that it is .019 fiber and it is the same size as the others. It must have a perceived look of the fibers being bigger due to the slightly larger pins.
