I don't think you'll have any problem regarding the diameter and flight of the bolt. I say that it falls in line with what you would use for arrows and a compound bow and that revolves mostly around arrow removal from a target. A little thinner - no problem. A little larger - the problems show up.

 

My wife has the Raven R26X and she had been using NAP Killzones for crossbow mechanicals, but is switching to Rage Crossbow X mechanicals because NAP discontinued the Killzone and replacement blades.

Your too obsessed with lining up the broadhead with the vanes IMHO. But I have learned if you use a fixed head with a crossbow DON'T use field points to sight it in.

 

It's not so much lining up the veins! It's more about spending the Broadhead on the arrow so as it spins True without a wobble.

Try your Quads, might be suprised they fly well.

 

I call these Chinadermics and have killed a boat load of turkeys and deer shooting them. I always use a dental band on the blades to prevent premature openings. Have never had one fail to open.

Swat XMags. And. G5 Megameats. Both are extremely accurate and cut huge holes.

 

I shoot Magnus Snuffers SS 125gn out of all my bows. They fly great and tough. I do however align the broadhead with the fletching so it just tickles when it passes through.

Call Dave at Wyvern Creations about those bolts and inserts, he may be able to help. I haven't heard of this, but I don't shoot a Raven, either.

I'm with you on knock tuning. I would still run a fixed. A lot of folks ran this before knock tuning was a thing.

I have never seen such devastation with a broadhead, and I have tried all of the big-name heads on the market.
The wife and I are both using the SWAT STX and have not had a deer go over 40 yds.

 

G5 Megameat works really good… chisel tip is solid and 2” cutting diameter does some serious damage.

 

SWAT....Todd turned me onto the titanium version and those are extremely good....fly very well out of both the 29X and the 10X. I do have the SEVR and they do the job but the blood trails are not that great as the hole seal sometimes.

 

I've never used a mechanical with a compound or crossbow so i have no input on those, I've just always used a fixed blade. I haven't hunted with them yet but the Slick Trick xbow 150's are shooting extremely accurate out of my Excalibur micro 340. I've been shooting the Excalibur Boltcutters and they shot just as good but I'm going to go with the Tricks for hunting because they are 4 blade.
