What direction does a crossbow recoil, is it Forward backward or a little of both

Not sure if this link will work, doing it from my phone, but its pretty obvious what happens from the video.
Just for the folks saying the limbs/string are going forward so thats what the crossbow will do, that force is causing the stock to go backwards at the same time.
Think about when you put the energy into it, you pull back the string, but force the stock the opposite way, the same thing but opposite happens when you fire it.
As others have said, the string afterwards will cause it to go forward but that is an oscillation, not a recoil, or basically an echo of the recoil, its from vibration.
It would be super easy to test, put your crossbow on a skateboard, and pull the trigger. Might not be the safest thing to do, but it will be obvious which way the crossbow wants to go.
