Just ordered one tonight, what kind of CF card will do the job for me? Also, how heavy-duty is the torx mounting screw that comes with it?

you'll need a compactflash card check on ebay they are 1/4th the price on thier as you would pay locally, and the torx screw is stainless so it is as rugged as you can get ...for a screw, but for the best in theft control get a bearsafe box from cuddeback

As you even mentioned, you'll need a CF card (Compact Flash) and a 512MB will easily record well over a thousand images and video clips.

As for the Torx screw, it's a small #T25. It's pretty weak and could easily be tore away from the tree with not much effort. A better theft system is seriously needed if your cam will be in danger of being seen by anyone! I've also noticed that mine has trouble torquing on some trees and causes you to nearly over tighten the screw which can compress the unit body enough that the battery door dumps. Keep this in mind because the battery door really sucks and needs redesigned.

As far as set-up, controls and image quality go, it's a great cam but there are a few design issues that I feel need to be worked out. Good luck with your new cam.

I agree with Cornfed on the Expert. I am running 2 Cuddeback Experts, and 1 2005 3.0 Cuddeback. I really like the new design on the Cf card installation, but the battery compartment was a step backwards from 2005. I did exactly what Cornfed said the 1st time. I torqued the screw down and the battery plate fell out. I also could not get the lock through the hole like that either. The screws work ok for securing to the tree for stability but they will not prevent theft. I believe that was a step backwards from the 2005 also eliminating the ability to use the screw and the cable at the same time.

As cornfed said my expert also had battery door problems(no big deal) but i here they are working on that It by far is one of the best cams i have had.with a bear safe there is no torque on the cam(shouldnt be needed but it works)The srews used are much larger with a bear safe.I bought 512mb cards from Bestbuy(19.99 each) and as cornfed says you will have tons of photos.I am using a 3.0 reconditioned unit now and it doesnt have the ease of the expert on card removel but has a great battery holder. Im sure you can call non typical for a fix on the compartment issue.I type like crap sorry but like to give my experiences with new stuff on the market
