Any one use a cuddeback bear cage?? I just got one and I'm trying to figure out how to mount it. It came with no hardware, no instructions. Any replies would be great, such as what do I do with the steel cable from the camera. Thanks....

Bear Box

I had questions when I got mine, thought they forgot the instructions. Called Cabelas and was told no instructions. I use the 2 screws that came with the camera and use them to screw the box to the tree. Then I thread the cable thru the back of the camera, out thru one of the side holes in the box, around the tree, and back into the box and then thru the eyeboltand back out thru another hole in the box. I then pull the cable as tight as I can and tighten down the eyebolt just as if I wasn't using the box. Put on the cover and lock and you're good to go. So far haven't had any problems but only using it since the end of May. I keep wondering if it really will protect it from Bruno since there are a few running around my hunting property. I got a pic of a deer in a hasty retreat I think was caused by a bear since the pic was the day before I pulled the card and there was a fresh "pile" 20 ' behind the tree that held the camera.

Do you guys feel that when mounted and secured with the 2 screws that it would really prevent theft? I'm very curious about buying one simply because of the serious lack of protection that my Cuddeback Expert has? I am not that concerned with theft on my property as I've had good luck in the past few seasons with other cams, but man, I don't just want to easily hand someone a $400 cam if they run across it!

best way i found was to use 7/16ths lag bolts and screw it to the tree then use a good full size master lock.I welded 2 peices of steel on mine besides and run a master lock python cable around the tree as well. Here is a picture before the pad lock and paint on the extra mounts

Cornfed check with Bernie on the bear cage. Bernie

pappy run the larger screws in with a socket wrench for i had the originals for the can and they bend real easy compared to some good size lags(just my opnion thoough)
