I didn't just shoot both, but ownd them both

I've shot several thousand rounds though the c3 and about a couple thousand through the apex 7. I will say that even if they sold for the same price I'd probably still give the nod to the c3. It would have an after-market grip though (don't care for the stock wood one). Don't get me wrong, I like the 300 fps I get from the apex 7, but it doesn't hold for me like the c3 did.

I bought the Apex 7 at the beginning of the year sight unseen. One thing I would recommend, shoot a 7 before your decide.

Between the 65% let-off and the hand shock the 7 takes some getting used to. After 3 months with the Apex 7 I had decided to shoot my Switchback for 3-D and sell the 7. A friend that shot Mathews for several years suggested I try the Conquest III . I Started checking the AT classifieds and picked up a used C3 from D Boone in May. My scores went up immediately.

I prefer the original Max cam instead of the Mini-Max so the C3 holds better for me. The C3 has a Mathews competition grip which helps it some.

One of the best investments you can make for an Apex 7 is an STS. It's like shooting a completely different bow with the STS. Good luck with your choice.

Apex 7 is also my favorite 3D bow and I have owned quite a few. I liked it so much I just sold my regular apex and bought a second A7 (new one is 60lbs) for spots. I won the NYS ASA championship with mine a few weeks ago............

A7 would be my choice of the 2 although I do own a Conquest.

The specs on A7 are superb and depending on what else comes out in 07 I am very seriuosly concidering getting one.

I have shot a 7 a couple of times and I really like it. I have a Con3 and a regular Apex.

Right now I would have to say the Con3 until I own a 7. I would likely shoot both for 3D and field. I would also would like to get another Con3.

The A7 is nice but needs to many after purchase mods for me. Cam work, new string and cables, and some times shooters ask for some type of grip tape on the risor. The c3 has been doing it all for so many years right out of the box you just can't doubt the living legacy of the top notch Mathews design.

The first time I shot a Conquest my good friend got one in at the proshop and set it up for hunting. I was shooting a Martin Cougar at the time and he was shooting faster and more acturatly than I was, and I was seriously impressed. I asked to shoot it and I had never shot a bow with so little vibration and great speed.

Great cam systems, very forgiving and parts are easy to get. The apex is touchy and the cam systems could use some work. That is not to say the A7 is not a great bow, it is. For the money though, I am going c3.

One thing no one here is mentioning or asking is "what is your draw length?" Well mine is 28" and for me the A7 is hands down the best of all worlds FOR ME.

Here is my take on the A7, the Apex and the C3.

I had a C3 the year they came out. I loved the way it aimed. It sat dead on the dot. My problem with the C3 was that if I was off the dot when the shot broke the arrow hit off the dot. I did not get any forgiveness with it. The next year I shot the Ovation and it was the opposite. When the shot broke if the dot was way low or way left in my peripheral vision the arrow still hit what I was aiming at. That is what I consider a forgiving bow. I sold my C3 at the end of the year. The guy I sold it to sold it after a few months as well. Now don't get me wrong I have some buddies that love their C3s and will not change. I have one friend with a 26" draw that loves his and shoots it lights out.

The Apex- super nice- again holds like a rock. Has some hand shock. When I got this bow it took me a full 8 or 9 months to get used to the grip and then the A7 came out. I spent a ton of time in the offseason with the Apex shooting at 5 yards to get used to the grip. I always shot my other Mathews off the riser which is virtually vertical. Then the new grip on the Apex was more of a high wrist grip so I had some trouble adjusting. Like I mentioned as I was getting really used to the bow in November the A7 came out. I immediately got one and have been in love with the A7 since. Now for guys with a 29 and up draw length, this is the bow for you. Look at the 3D season. In the ASA all but one men's shoot has been won by the Apex. In the IBO National Triple Crown all but 1 shoot has been won by the Apex. Also note all of the guys winning with this bow are bigguns... Gillingham, Hopkins, Christenberry, Yost. They all have long draw lengths.

The A7- again for me this is the bow to beat hands down. The geometry of ths one fits me like a glove. 38" a to a and 7" brace height. The string angle lets my head sit vertical and barely touch the string with my nose. Plenty of speed. Very forgiving. I have made tons of shots this year where I know the shot broke low but somehow the arrow hit dead center. That is a great feeling.

Like some one else told you shoot them all before laying down this kind of money. What fits me will not neccesarily fit you. Good luck.

You will be quite happy with either choice, but I will give you another excellent option. If your draw is 29" or less, I suggest you consider the Prestige. My favorite bow was the 7 until I shot the Prestige. It is now my primary bow and the 7 is the backup. You will get a little more speed with the Prestige; however, you sacrifice nothing. It is smooth to draw and holds like a rock with the solid wall. I am not a speed freak so that is not the only sales point with the Prestige. It just shoots super.
