3/4" is a decent sized loop. There's not a set size for everyone. You need your loop to be the size it needs to be to draw with your release elbow and forearm parallel with your shoulders. Then, you can fine tune it to decrease/optimize pin float.
I have always shot a short loop. I cannot stand a long loop on a bow. If the release allows it, I always set bows up with the shortest loop possible. Most of the time, I cut my loop material at 4 1/2 inches or shorter before burning the ends and installing.
