It's also going to depend on how much the material you use stretches the first few times you draw on it. I don't precut mine I just take a piece of material and melt the first end and tie it up and get the loop set to the length I want it. Than very carefully I cut the second end fray and melt it right on the bow. I found this to work the best for me being as I prefer a very short loop.
