For those who have the ESPN channel, have you noticed that they are now televising the game of Darts, with winnings up to a $1 million. Anyway, I became facinated by the game and wondered if there was ever an attempt to adopt the Dart Board game into an archery format with the same scoring system. Two archers start with the score of 501 and whoever gets to zero first wins the game, best of 11 games wins the match. As opposed to shooting for bullseye in FITA archery, the archer in "Archer Dart" will shoot for score and send an arrow(s) to certain areas of the board to achieve the neccesary score to win. Anyway, what do you FITA guys think about this?

Sounds like tons of fun!

There are a company who offer a regulation BDO style dart board target for archery, but I don't have the links.

So, someone somewhere has adopted this format. Do you happen to know what distance they're shooting. I'm assuming the distance for compound vs. recurver is different? Yes, your right, it would be kind of fun!

Man, I had this idea a while ago and actually had contacted some companies about pursuing development of an "archery dart board." I had dreams of it being my million dollar idea, looks like someone beat me to it.

Lesson learned: When you think you have a good idea, you have to be willing to take the risk and pull the trigger, or somebody else will do it first.

Dang.

tho i may not be able to win in the archery version of darts which does exist and is plaed at 25 yards and is a blast.......we play cricket tho.....i am a dart player first and archer a distant 2nd........played with alot of the guys on there....until the wsod....there was no money in steeel tips anymore.soft tips are big $ all the time...in the detroit metro area and toledo area there is a tourny everyday of the week....the friday night toledo torny has a jackpot of over $2800.00 per dart....which equals $8400.00 if you get drawn to throw ...it is like lucky strike in bowling...

The more important question:

Archery can't be that much less interesting than darts. Why aren't we on ESPN???
There's just more access to these sports for the average joe. Anyone can buy some darts at the local sporting good store and a board and play at home, the same can't be said for real archery equipment. There's tons of bars that have dart boards, bowling alleys are ubiquitous in this country, it's hard to not find one within driving distance of most anyone. Same can't be said for archery ranges.

How about developing an electronic target face primarily for archery darts.:wink2: I don't think anyone has thought of that yet!?

novaltie shoot

I have played it before at some of the bigger 3d (i know i like to shoot foam animals) shoots i go to they will have a dart board on the range as a novaltie item, it usually boils down to archers with big ego's duking it out and little guys like me ringing money outta older shooters thinkin im just a kid, lay 50 on the line and shoot it till one wins it gets long s drswn out if ur opponent trys to go double or nothing but sometimes its fun to lay in wait for the guys shooting more pounds and slam them the second round then take em on for double the stakes 100 bucks cause they think it was a fluke, usually paid for my trips.
