I see many here have entered the deer contest.

I also remember some here that questioned my thoughts about having a structured contest on a ranch during the season all under legal laws of the state.

I for one like deer contest for the main reasons. Makes a hunter hold out for a larger deer. Really never seen anything wrong with them. I have won my share and didnt really change my thoughts during the season, I still hunted hard. Only promblem I have seen is contest with large prizes (four Wheeler)is the same guy wins over and over. Many of us in the area I live have a good idea how he hunts, at night.

Lets try and disscuss this in a cival matter like rational adults. Whats everyones thoughts? Dont tie this with Pro Hunting Asscioation. Im not talking about that at all. Your typical sign up for big buck contest.

I am one who feels any deer contest that awards prizes is sure to be a rip off and is degrading to the sport. I use to enter contest and as noted they are usually won by the same person or group of people year after year. There is no way to keep people from bending the rules, we have all seen the so called Prohunters doing that. A deer contest here on AT where there is nothing to win should be pretty harmless, even if someone does cheat who are they cheating other then themseles?

i entered the western big game contest.

i also dont like the prize idea, but the free thing for bragging rights is cool. it wont change what i shoot or dont shoot in the least.
if there were some big prize id be against it.
