I'd be very interested to see the break, doesn't seem like a common breaking point or one I've seen on these

Bracket for the thumb button extension rod, has fractured.

Is this common?

No. I don't believe so. Could have been a manufacturing defect. Guessing that the bracket is cast metal. Doubt the bracket is forged. So a defect in the casting (bubble) would result in a shear fracture, after enough time, after enough firings of the release.

That makes sense!
