First off let me say when Jerry owned south shore archery the customer service and arrows were absolutely perfect. Since Eric and James Teague have taken it over I have only placed one other order and I was overall satisfied until now. On October 3rd I placed an order for half a dozen shafts to be built I was planning on trying different spine and vane configurations and I since I had an extra set of bare shafts at home I would mail them to south shore to be fletched up to match my current arrows. So I box up my shafts and send them down. I wait about 6-7 weeks before I send my first email wondering the status of my order and nothing finally another week goes by and I get an email on 11/22/22 that my order is shipped, I get it, it is hunting season I was in no rush arrows arrive 11/26 and it’s only six arrows the ones I asked them to build and not the ones I sent to have refletched. So I send an email asking about the rest of my order and I get the response no problem will check at the shop on Monday I have since send other emails 12/1 and 12/8 to no response. So I am guessing I will give it another week and another email or two and it’s off to PayPal dispute. I just wondering if anyone else has been having issues and I guess let everyone know the current experience I am having with them.

I ordered some from podium archery being Jerry retired from South shore. Very happy with the quality. Nice thing about Jerry we talked for hours a few times about arrows, he was talking about arrows and build years ago with me that folks are just now figuring out and was just as happy to tell me how to build them as good as his and his philosophy as to why. I build my own the way Jerry described now but have ordered cut fletched shafts from podium archery in Spokane for me to finish inserts ect and they were top notch. Much better then bow shops I had made in the past

I still order from them because I don’t know where else to go. But the customer service has gone down hill since the new owners took over. Orders are taking extremely long to ship and they change things on the order without notification and get kinda pissy about it when you call and question them on the change.
Does anyone else build arrows and have the selection of arrows and components like south shore?

It's right in the middle of hunting season so i'm sure SSA is very busy but that's not an excuse for the lack of communications. I HIGHLY frown on no return (or insulting excuses) when I have a question or situation with my order. Communications are paramount if you want to continue to run a business. I have a pending crossbow arrow order with SSA so we will see how my order finalizes. I placed my order via a phone conversation and thus far have been very pleased with the experience.

It's sad that this has happened to every arrow builder I've ever even known about over the years. I completely gave up on them all about 6 years ago. Since then, my arrow saw and fletching jigs have more than paid for themselves. I get exactly the arrows I want every time too.

Sorry to hear that about South Shore. I hope they rectify the situation for you. Have not bought arrows pre fletched in years. Tried some spine indexed arrows from Jerry about 12-15 years ago, And then bought my own RAM. His service at the time was great.
I just cant stand depending on others things I can do for myself. It relieves a lot of stress knowing things will get done when I want them done. I guess my lack of patience with waiting for stuff drove me to do all my own stuff.

I agree......^^^^^ When I got my start in archery, there were not many shops and mail order businesses took far too long for my tastes. So I learned to do things myself, starting with building arrows. They were pretty utilitarian aluminum at the beginning, then I went through a "fancy" stage during my long stint in trad archery where I got a spine tester and DIY cresting jig. I would cull wood shafts to get the best dozen, taper, seal, crown dip, crest and fletch some pretty fancy arrows. But then I figured out it was harder to shoot those really fancy arrows which I had many hours of work......into targets or at animals. The carry-over today is the reason I buy very good shafts and built my own utilitarian carbon arrows and don't shoot IW heads.....that same feeling of launching too much money into the unknown.

I did business with Jerry a few times on components and such.....he was a knowledgable and helpful guy. Reality is that you can teach techniques and share information, but cannot make other folks care like you do. The same reason some formerly top shelf string builders start sending out lesser quailty strings.....they get too much business and have to hire someone to help. Even though well trained, an employee or new owner only cares to the level of their personality.....which is typically less than the guy whose name is on the invoice or door. At the very least, the new owners should hire in someone to monitor the phone or emails so customers feel as though their questions or concerns really matter to someone. It is sad to see a highly regarded business begin to "slide"......but such is often the case.

I am sure your order will be great it will just take a while. They messed up wrap and vane combo on two arrows they were switched which it is what it is. My thing is the communication. I own a small business and all my emails from purveyors or wholesalers go right to my phone and I answer right away.

If you are looking into other arrow builders. Look at blackovis.com they are fast. I messed up on one of my inputs and I sent an email right away but the guys in the shop hadn’t been notified and my arrows had been built by 8:30. They fixed my oops after I told them I would be fine with what my original order was.

I don’t talk bad generally about businesses online. But in the last few years all my batches of arrows from them have been less than impressive. I’ve ordered multiple sets of victory rip tkos in Iron will set ups, victory vf tkos, and black eagle carnivores. All the squaring in the nock ends were bad and noticeable. And the most annoying thing that I’ve experienced in all these builds is the inserts coming out. I’ve ordered 2 .204 diameter set ups for friends and they all had inserts hit inserts spinning and pulling out. This years batch of black eagle carnivores with ethics inserts they installed are falling or pulling out. I don’t know what’s going on down there but I’ve had it. It never used to be that way. I’m ordering shafts from someone else possibly lancaster or just buying an arrow saw and be done with it.

Just seems when a company gets sold it goes downhill.

Shot factory fletched arrows for a time and then had the local shop fletch them. Disappointment big time. 3 times before he got my arrows right. One more time and that was it. Bought a fletching jig and added as time went by. Got pretty good at it. The shop worked for had me doing all the arrows. Guaranteed my fletching. Shop closed, but I still fletch for others at home.

The best thing you can do is learn yourself. It's not expensive to get started and there isn't much of a learning curve needed to make arrows. The best thing is repairs can be done right at home with no need for anyone else to be involved.

I’ve used them several times over the years. Had my first snafu this year when the wrong finished weight was sent. There was a bit of pushback over what had occurred and what I ordered until I went over the details. Matter was resolved. This was done via phone, not email correspondence.

If a business displays a e-mail as a means for contacting them it should be answered with as much interest and dedication as the phone. In fact a lot of businesses today prefer e-mail over the phone. They go through them after business hours. If a business requires you to call to get customer service they should make that plain to customers. One form of contact should not be more important if both are listed as contact information.

I buy from huntersfriend and they’ve been awesome. They placed a call to me after I made an order to confirm since I was a new customer and also to let me know that the arrow I selected was a “newer” model, meaning it had different graphics but everything else was the same. We chatted about our bow shop setups at home, hunting, etc. Great people. The turn around time was great as well.
