First off, thank you to all the other diyers that have posted their previous builds. I’ve had a homemade draw board built onto a 2x8 but wanted to save some space while also being able to draw my bows horizontal instead of vertical. With the new version of lca’s drawboard I made my bow holder drop down a little similar to theirs. I could have used angle iron but the square tubing just gives me a little more surface area, and ultimately looks much stronger. It’s a work in progress but it’s completed enough that I thought I’d share. I will wrap the pipe with some grip tape, cut the included hook off the winch strap and add a carabiner or chain repair hook, and finish painting it. Any other suggestions?

IDK why but I like the idea of the bow being able to pivot freely, so I add a piece of pvc tube on the bow holder. The id of the pvc was a good fit and it spun freely without much play between the pvc and the bow holder rod. Then I cut about a 1" piece pipe insulation and dipped it into Plasti-Dip rubber coating to help with the insulations durability and stiffness. It's used as a stand off from the metal to help protect the bow's finish.

I use a similar winch as well, have it so the strap feeds off the top, it seems to be high enough so the bows draw level without doing the bow holder offset bracket you made, nice though you have the option of rotating your bow holder. How is your strap fed onto the winch, does it pull from the top or the bottom of the winch spool?

One of these days I am going to cut a piece of pvc about an 1/8" longer for a more flush fit, spins nicely as is though.

It feeds from the bottom, but it has a two way ratchet feature so I could un wind it and go off the top if I need to. I like the pipe idea though, I’ll find a piece to put over mine. Thanks.

Yes, it seems that when the bow holder is somewhere around 3" lower than the pulling point that most bows will seem to pull the bow more level, meaning the top of the bow won't be lurching backwards or forwards and be more like it is when you actually hold it.

I have a similar set up to what's post above, difference's being my holder has no drop but I feed my winch off the top of my small winch and that height difference is essentially the drop difference bwtn the two, mine is around a 3" difference and pulls bows usually pretty level.
