I havent personally tried them all but from what i have tried, a good ole mag-lite or coleman lantern seem to work the best for blood trailing.

Years ago we tracked a buck with a Rayovac blood light, as well as several flashlights. Everyone agreed a regular incandescent bulb flashlight worked best. Tracking light and LED's were horrible for seeing blood. Whenever we lost the trail, it was back to an incandescent, and we would pick it up again. I have heard a Coleman lantern is the best, but never tried one.

It's been a long time since I had to use it, but the coleman 2 mantle lantern is always in the truck. Lights up a lot more than just where you are looking. I need to make, or buy a reflective shield for the back. That will keep the light out of your eyes, and brighten up what's ahead of you even more.

I am not sure about blood, but I did by a higher power UV light this year and it shows urine like a neon light. I can see deer trails 40 yards away it is like they are glowing. I will find out about blood trails later in the season.

I have an older Primos that works. Only had to use it once though, a liver shot doe I punched w a rifle. Made the blood almost glow to my eyes. Still rides on the hump of the truck fully charged.

Usually 2-3 flashlights and my **** hunting light in the truck as well, can never be too prepared for those night tracking jobs.
