Do APA bows shoot well at distance?

Recently I've watched a video from podium archer and read some other articles on how reflex in coumpound bow design can cause bow torque. APA bows have more reflex than other bows on the market. Have any long range APA shooters noticed any struggles at distance? Or am I overthinking it?

I think you're overthinking it... Reflex/Deflex risers have a certain "feel" and you may or may not like Reflex Risers. If that's the case, you won't shoot that bow very well at any distance.

The inverse is also true... You might not like Deflex Risers (I personally don't get a long with them at all)

Bottom line, I'd take a 36-38" APA over something like a Supra Focus XL/RTX/Citation to shoot at any distance. I loved my Perform X and have not been a fan of any of the PSE target bows since for this reason.

Yes they do but they are finicky due to handle width IMO. I prefer a beefier handle similar to the UV Matthew’s grip. I just wrapped the handle with grip tape to make it beefier. And have to remember to put more heel pressure into the riser.

Edit: this is with a 2021 black mamba 33” riser.

My 60yd grouping on a really good day

90yds grouping on a meh day, minus three arrows on the left they are all within a pie plate. The initial 5-7 were before I started getting tired (90lb bow). I have been reducing my arrows I shoot In a row as I’m getting to tired to fast as I’ll
Shoot a bunch (10-15, basically empty the quiver) and start making horrible mistakes and shakes. Now I go with 3-5 arrows and try to make all the shots count and end on good notes.

I have front and rear stabs. 15 inch back 12 inch front, I do not use their stabilizer thing that attaches to the string stop. My quiver and arrows weight a lot so it’s hard to balance it as I can’t attach enough weight to offset 5 x 600 grain arrows and a tree limb one piece premium quiver oh and a spot hog hog father up front.

Pic shows a dialled sight, I sent that back as it started working horrible after a few weeks.

Not really, I also have a heavy spot hog hog father sight up front, 5x600 grain arrows in the quiver. I can’t attach enough to it to balance. Plus it’s specific weights not normal stabilizer weights.

Plus I found it a pain in the ass to fit in the case without loosening and swinging it in. So trying to put it back the same every time is a pain in the hurt.

Yes, I quite like it, my Matthew’s is no in back up mode. It performs as well as any other bow I have shot. It’s a speed cam, so think pse s2, etc. It gets a little stiff at the end of the draw cycle.

APA use to have a bad rap for awhile of coming out of tune, but that was the strings they were using at the time, and not tuning them
Properly, they don’t tune the same as most bows, you can do it apparently via a draw board but I have found that to not work for me with their bow.. I still don’t use their strings, I always use ones from bloodline fibre vec 99.

The only real draw back for me with tuning was was the instructions I had were garbage so I nearly threw the bow out as I couldn’t get it to tune without seriously leaning cams or being way out of ctr shot which wasn’t right. I found out that the ctr shot was incorrect and I tuned up in a few arrows.

There are things I dislike:
- I can flex the limbs and full draw an extra 1/4”, I like a firmer back wall, or maybe when I hit the draw stops I’m Suppose to pull that extra 1/4” or whatever it is in flex. I call it turbo
Mode
-the tool ctr is a gimmick, except for the cam lock pin.Get an extra one or two pins and the attachment screw/knob that locks them
In place. The one I had aligned weird and kept loosening on me as I’d bunk the knob. I’ve lost one in the field due to that knob, so I always keep one in the save a bow kit.
