Has anyone heard of The Mangus 5 outfitters for a elk drop camp? Could anyone please tell me the good and bad about drop camps. The units are 74 and 75 in Colorado. How crazy is it for a flatlander to do a drop camp as a first time elk hunt. I will have others with me with a couple of guided elk hunts under them already. Any advise, opinions, or slaps up side the head screaming "what are you thinking" are welcome. Thanks in advance.......

I have done DIY hunts before. I'm currently planing a 2 week DIY pack in hunt in Colorado unit 73 for next yr. I have thought about a drop hunt before in the past, but I wondered if the outfitter would actually put me where the elk were at. But I enjoy the planning and the satisfaction of doing it myself. Not saying that there is anything wrong with a drop camp, and I'm sure that there are some good outfitters that provide them. Let us know how your hunt goes.

Good luck.
Scott.
