Unless you have room in your bow stable for one more!! I've shot several of the new 05 Bowtechs, 04 bowtechs,Outback, ovation, Lx, Xtec, Ar-34 and many more but nothing that I have ever shot can compare to the feel of the Switchback. In one word " AWESOME " so if your not ready to part with 640.00 of your hard earned dollars, trust me, "do not shoot this bow" not even once!! Of coarse, you paper shooting spotties may not appreciate the beauty of this little gem but us 3d'en / hunting types will have to have one, count me in. Oh, bye the way, anyone looking for a x-tec :D

I don't know how you tell the difference between the new bows. I shoot a 1990 Firecat. I shot a RazorX with Dyna-cams and all I can say is WOW, Smooth, Bow didn't Move when I released (I shoot Fingers). It Took me 30 shots to get back to where I could even shoot my old bow. If you can do better than that, I don't know how.

Switchback

So the Switchback beats the new Bowtechs? Of all the posts I haven't been able to find very many that compare it with the Allegiance or Defender. I would be interested in your comparison, as I have a feeling I am going to own a new one after I shoot them.

Whew! Thanks for the warning. Actually, I went to the local Mathews dealer today and checked out the Switchback. They told me to go shoot it, but, I said "no...I am afraid to". Nice looking bow, felt great in my hand. Both of the guys that work the bow shop shoot an LX. They really like the Switchback.

I just can't justify another bow right now. My LX is excellent, so I do not need the temptation. :)

Ok cabbage, Pay close attention!! The Switchback blew the bowtech defender away in my hunble opinion. The bowtech seems to be a little faster, didn't get to shoot the s/b thru the chrony but in every other aspect I preferred the s/b. The draw cycle on the bowtech seem to never really let-off, it had a solid wall but a short valley. The s/b was very smooth on the draw with a good wall and a generouse valley at 80%, much like the freedom cam bowtechs. The s/b seem plenty fast and super quiet and shock/vib free, the defender had some jump/kick to it when shot and was noticeably louder than the s/b. I'm not trying to say that the bowtech is a bad product, because it is a very nice bow along with many others but to date I have not found one that is any smoother or more pleasurable to shoot than the Switchback. If your able, shoot them both before you make a decision ;)

Cabbage - do a search - there are some comparisons out there.

I've shot both the Switchback and the Defender. No comparison! Switchback was MUCH better so I ordered one. The ease and smoothness of the draw is FAR better on the Switchback. The Defender felt like I was drawing at least 10 extra pounds than the stated draw weight and the Switchback felt like closer to 10 pounds less than the stated weight. Honestly - huge difference.

The other big difference was in the hand shock. The Switchback has very, very little shock (all bows have some) and just sits there in your hand after you release. The Defender had considerably more shock and the top limb kicked back (bottom limb forward) quite a bit upon release. A good stabilizer might tone that down or even eliminate it but the Switchback doesn't need to be "toned down".

You tell me which is better.

That said, I would encourage you to shoot both of them yourself to reach your own conclusion. I'm quite confident you'll reach the same conclusion I did but everyone is different so you never know. (BTW, I've hunted with a Bowtech Patriot for several years now - just killed a doe with it on Tuesday in fact - Bowtech makes some good stuff but I'm just not impressed at all with this new Equalizer cam system - too bad because it sounded awesome on paper).

:( Well I Guess I'll Be The Only One That Isn't Awe-struck By The New Switchback. I Think It Holds Really Nice And Shoots Pretty Good But Really Dont See Much Difference From The Outback Or Lx.The Bow I Shot Seemed To Have A Little Viberation In The Handle After The Shot, and Really Wasnt Any Quieter. The Guy At The Shop Seemed To Think Maybe The New Strings May Be A Part Of It.As Far As Comparing It To A Bowtech,The Allegiance Is More The Same In Specs Than The Defender .

I held a Switchback, I drew a Switchback :all the while- my LX was very, very near(yeah-I got such a nasty look from my LX) :D

could not be dared to shoot it though.I know I'd want a Switchback as well.

like Micky noted ,I'll hang with my LX

I just got an outback (used) for at Christmas. I am going to shoot both when the shop gets a switchback in (I'm a lefty so I'm waiting). I am going to use my bow 99% hunting and maybe 1% 3d. My question is to all that have shot both the outback and the switchback, is it worth the upgrade? I know that I have to shoot them and feel what is best for me but for all of you experts out there your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, good hunting,

I don't feel at all that the Switchback is better than the Allegiance. I've shot both, too. The switchback barely made 280 at 70#, 29", 400 gr. The Allegiance at 60#, 28", 350 gr shot 286. So apples to apples, the Allegiance will be much faster. As for quiet, recoil, vibration: close enough to call it even. The draw curve on the Switch is very stiff, IMO. Lb for lb, the Allegiance has a smoother draw, with a better wall. Because the Allegiance drops off, rather than builds and breaks over, the perception of no valley is misleading. Let both bows down, and see what I mean. When you get to this level of bow, the differences are mainly personal preference. Mine is the Allegiance.

I'm a finger shooter. I'm NOT into short bows at all. I shoot a Barnsdale which to me is the best, most forgiving and comfortable bow I've ever owned in 43 years of shooting, but I MUST say, I shot a couple of arrows through a switchback a couple of weeks ago just out of curiosity, and this MAY be the most solid holding and possibly the smoothest bow I've ever shot an arrow through....

Compare bows comparable to another

I think the allegiance would be closer to the specs of the switchback....The defender would be compared to the outback...
I heard that the draw was a dream on the new bowtechs,I am smelling stinky cheese if it isn't better, come on ups guy,I want to compare!

Just a little confused....you guys must not know what apples to apples means. The term apples to apples means when you compare two things that are similar under similar conditions.
When you are looking at two different bows with different draw lengths, draw weights, and arrow weights...YOU ARE NOT COMPAIRING APPLES TO APPLES :D You are running a goofy test to make your point sound valid. Try again with both bows set up the same and see what happens.

Well, it might be Fuji to Golden Delicious. Exact specs (Fuji to Fuji) would more favor the Allegiance. Notice both are 50 gr over IBO, and the Allegiance is 1" shorter. What I meant was, bows physical specs were a better comparison, Allegiance to Switchback.
