I've recently acquired my first double pin sight and it has got me curious on how everyone else is setting theirs up. I understand it varies greatly upon arrow speed and setups. What have you found to be the optimum 1 pin and 2 pin yardage to get the most out of your sight in a hunting scenario? 20/30, 20/40, 25/35, etc?

I currently am running 2 pins at 20 and 40, coincidently my level is at 59 yards in this configuration.

This truly only applies with my top pin at 20 due to the site tape spreading at distance. For hunting purposes I can confidently gap shoot 20 - 60ish yards without moving my site.

I also added a third indicator pin dialed to my level so Im ca see all three points as I roll my site down.

That is the way to do it. Sight it in like a single pin to get your tape. Most double pins aren't adjustable, so your pointer should then line up with whatever your second pin is. If it is adjustable, then you can sight in your double pin from there. I like a 15 yard pin gap and walk around the mountain with my pins set at 25 and 40.. this allows me to be able to shoot 20-45 without adjusting my sight. Anything longer than 45 I should have time to slide.

Spot Hogg double pin for me and mine is set for 27&40 covers all my needs for treestand/ground hunting. Basically set it and never move it other than shooting longer shots during practice. Shot my buck at 36 yards last year and with no time to range him I just guessed and split the pins.

I've used a single pin sighted in at 22 yards for quite a few years. One of my stands has an active trail 35 yards out, so I added a pin set at that distance. I never did pull the trigger on that shot. For GP, 40 might be the better distance to work with. Recently, I bought an HHA Tetra. We'll see how that goes.
