Hey ya'll. I've got a quick question. since i've started shooting 8 years ago i've always shot 30'' but in the past year as i have concentrated more on my form and technique, my bow (05 hoyt v-tec 80lbs 27-29.5'' by the way) became more and more uncomfortable to shoot. I found out that the string and cables were the wrong length leaving me a max of 28'' which was fixed but 30'' still doesn't feel right. After playing with several bows at the local shop I work at in my spare time I found out I need a 32'' bow. So my question is, is there anyway to get to 32'' short of a new bow. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

snakeboyaz:

If you don't mind,
can you post a picture of yourself with your current bow,
just the way it is, no adjustments, and load up an arrow,
and hold your bow hand high enough so that your bow hand thumb
is at your shoulder height,
and the arrow is level.

I would be very surprised if you have been shooting a 28" bow,
and now you have discovered that a 32" draw length bow is
what you really need.

If you stand with your back against the wall,
and your arms also touching the wall,
and hands and arms horizontal,
what is the distance from middle fingertip to middle fingertip?

bow was suppose to be 29.5 but felt it was a little short, but the price was right so I decided to worry about it later. About a month ago I finally cheked the length and found out it was only pulling 28'' and 73lbs max out of an 80lb bow. we were able to get it out to 30'' and 82lbs but still feels short. Wingspan measures at 78'' and i'll try to get a pic up tomorrow. thanks

He must be a big son of a gun like me. I have a 31" draw also. Sportsmans warehouse tried telling me I was only a 29.5" draw when I bought my first bow a while back. I just never felt comfy. I went to my local pro shop and he measured me at 31" and I have never felt better and my shooting has improved greatly. Good Luck snakeboy

One thing that you can do is to use a very long D-loop. This is a cheap way to find out if you really do need a bow with a 31" to 32" DL. By adjusting the loop, you can find out exactly what your best DL is.

Then you can decide if your current bow will do or you need another bow.

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses. Haven't had time to get pics yet but I setup and shot a new pro-tec today at 32'' and felt perfect. so is there anyway to get my v-tec to 32'', or should I just become a better contortionist and deal with 30'' , or maybe new toy:)
btw, only 6ft 240 just really long arms:eek:
