It happens to all of us sooner or later. The best remedy I've found is to shoot a Martin bow with the shoot through cabling system, where the slide and rod are totally eliminated. Barring that the next is to get a "white" teflon cable slide made by Simms or others.
Clean your rod with alcohol and lube it with nothing.
