I've been wondering: When you draw your bow, should you guide the arrow with your index finger or not? Or does it not matter either way? I've got into the habit of it, I keep my finger on the arrow as I draw, then take it off and hold and shoot. I feel like if I didn't, the arrow could fall off the rest.

You can do it but you do run the risk of cutting yourself when shooting broadheads or if you do not get it out of the way when the feathers pass by they can also cut you. If you are gripping the bowstring with a deep hook and roll your fingers slightly as you draw the arrow should stay on without help.

If the arrow is falling off then you're twisting it off with your drawing fingers. Common habbit for beginners.Just relax your drawing hand, it should be loose. Think of it as a big squishy hook.

I never touch my arrow with my finger when I draw my bow.
