Has anyone else had problems with the allen bolts in the Drop Zone Rests seizing up? I have had an issue with two Drop zones Seizing up. One of them caused a bolt head to sheer off on the other it rounded out the allen head. These bolts were defiantly not over tightened.

This problem has to do with the order of operations during tightening and loosening the bolts. I have a DZ rest and have found this myself. There are 4 bolts that hold the housing together. 2 vertical and 2 horizontal. If you tighten the verticals first and then the horizontals you actually put a significant shear load on the vertical bolts effectively seizing them in place. You should loosen the horizontal bolts prior to loosening the verticals. This whole thing can work in the opposite order as well so if one set is too tight loosen the opposite first. At least 1 set should be free to move.

I understand where you are coming from with the order of operations. However I don't think that is the case with my problems. I am always careful not ot over tighten. I have had this problem on two separate DZ rests. The first one it was the centershot lock bolt that seized. There aren't any other bolts that put a bind on that one. The other one was one of the horizontal bolts but I had already removed the vertical bolts first and the other horizontal bolt. I think it may be a issue with the quality of the bolts. They just are not standing up well in this application.

...??? Haven't had that problem before. May want to try coating them with anti-sieze before reinstalling them if you ever get them out. Also, you may want to contact TR and see what they have to say about it.

I had just the opposite happen. The vertical (long) screws kept working loose. I didn't want to over tighten them, so I called Brent at Trophy Ridge to see if it was ok to put Loc-Tite or something similar on them. He explained that I probably had either a stripped screw or a stripped thread in the launcher arm bracket. I ordered a repair kit (screws, launcher arm, springs and plastic tubes) from TR for $5.00. Brent threw in a replacement launcher arm bracket for free. I don't use credit cards and I told Brent I would have to send either a check or money-order. Sent a check on a Thursday expecting a wait of a couple of weeks for my check to clear, but I had my repair kit the following Monday. My check wasn't cashed until 6 days later. Great customer service!

I contacted Trophy Ridge about this and they are going to take care of it ASAP. I sent my rest in yesterday. They said they will fix or replace it and get it back right away. That's good news. I like a company that stands behind their products. I really like how this rest performs so all is well.

I had a couple of the allen heads strip, so I went down to the local ACE hardware and replaced all of the factory bolts with stainless steel. Works great now! Also good to know that their customer service is good.
