out hunting with my buddy friday and we found two HUGE scrapes! licking branches and all!! has anyone else found scrapes this early before? what do these early season scrapes mean? i have noticed more bucks than ever this year; does the extra competition between the deer cause them to scrape early or is it just some young deer playing around? any info would be helpful

Early season scrapes

Not Uncommon, bucks starting territorial scrapes.
These will normaly be on major runs, edges of fields.
Closer to the rut, start looking inside of these scrapes
closer to the bedding area. These are the breeding scrapes.
And YES the mature bucks do check these on regular basis....Chuck

Here in North mississippi i have found several new scrapes and even a scrape line. These early scrapes are mostly from mature bucks.
