I am going to get new hunting arrows and have narrowed it down to these 2. Convince me why I should buy one over the other.

well i would take acc over both to but that isnt wasnt what you asked i have some of the full metal jackets and the axis arrows and for hunting the full metal jackets would be great because they are heavy and they would have alot of energy so that is my choice .

I switched to the Easton FMJ's about a month ago.

Why?

Well I picked up about 30 grains over my last setup (CX Maxima's) from 330 grains to 360 grains total arrow weight.

I gave up almost 10 fps, but I know that I should not have any problems out to 50 yards this year on our Ohio WT's.

I recently went from FMJ back to the axis due to the FMJ starting to wobble slightly when spun. I shoot alot and I didn't think they would bend, but it seemed like they didn't spin true after several hundred shots. They are also more expensive than regular axis. I don't really need the weight since my hunting setup is 425 gr with axis 340.

I have the Axis Obsessions. I have plenty of weight with those at 28" and a 100 grain point. I guess it just depends on how much weight you're after. I don't really see much advantage in the FMJ's other than the extra weight except for maybe being easier to pull out of a 3-D target (for those that don't know, the Axis arrows can be a beast to pull out of 3-D targets).

I was thinking, that maybe the aluminum would prevent the carbon from splintering inside the animal???? I have never had this happen to me, but know it is possible. That may be a help. I am leaning towards Axis myself.

I also shoot obsessions. My buddy just picked up some FMJs and we were comparing the two arrows in pennitration(?). We both shoot the same weight and draw lenth the only differecne is his FMJs are 29 1/2" and mine are 29". They both pennitrate about the same (20yds and 30yds). IMO if ya want a little more speed and get the pennitration of FMJs try axis obsessions.

fmj's

I have the fmj's right now and I am trading them in. They shoot great for me but they just don't hold to my standards of durability. Since I bought a dozen a month ago i have lost 4 due to them denting or breaking. My standard was my old carbon express cx's. I shot these for years with never splintering or breaking the arrow if i hit something a little harder than the target (namely the metal insert beneath the heart of the glendel buck). I hit that with the old CE's alot and never had those things budge. Just the field point tip would dent in. The last time I shot I grouped them close and one got dented.
When these things broke I could see the aluminum on the outside and how thick it was. It was maybe paper thin. I seriously worry if you hit bone on deer or whatever the arrow would break before the broadhead got full penetration. I think they are a cop of the acc's since they have the opposite theory.
I know if I hit the perfect spot every time I wouldn't have to worry about it, but I don't so I am going back to old trustees.

My biggest negative about the aluminum/carbon arrows is that they can and eventually will get bent. Carbon arrows are either bent or broke, and I have never broke one myself.

axis...all the way

I shoot the axis arrows and i love them. I dont like 'em I love 'em. Last fall I accidently missed my target and the arrow went through my hay bail back up and nailed a concrete wall. It stuck in and stayed, I pulled it out checked the insert, put it on a roller and it all seemed good im still shooting that arrow just as accurately as before. I'm sold.
