Elongated vs hooded peep question ???

For years I have shot hooded speciality archery peeps with clarifier. I see most using elongated peeps nowadays… why? Is there a benefit? Maybe For glare… am I missing out on something here.

Only reason I can see to use the elongated peep would be to beat glare on your lens or to prevent water on your glass, just a guess, Sonny might chime in with a better answer.
