I think those quills come with aluminum inserts which will make those arrows weigh less than 350 grains, the minimum recommended by Excal.

 

I would use 150 gr......the limbs will appreciate it. The bow will be quieter and better penetration. Pretty sure moon is correct unless your quills were cut down and heavier inserts used. You risk ruining the limbs with 100 gr and even 125

If they are 16.5" Quills, they weigh about 225 grains without points. A 125 grain head would put it on the borderline.

my best results with Micro were with arrows over 390 grains total weight, mine was very quiet very smooth and shot the same hole out 40 yards. That requiered Spynal Tapps, they proved to shoot better than anything else I tried in it, BEE's and the quills were noticeably worse, with any head.

 

quills are 250 grains without a head. all of excalibur factory arrows are the same weight they just use heavier inserts in the shorter ones to bring the weight to 250.
100 grain is safe to use but i would up the weight to 125s minimum.
I agree with WC in thar the quills have proved to be the worst arrows mine has shot, used executioners zombies and the spynal tapps. Mine gets steady diet of tapps i bought when Jerry was blowing out when they changed to the new tapps. @ 380 grains total. Goin to try 125s this year bumping it to 405ish grains.

 

16" Accuspines with 100 (363 grains total) or 125 grain (388 grains total) Slick Tricks or RamCats, using 92 grain LnL inserts and full helical Blazers, shoot lights out with my Micro's.

 

The quils that came with my Micro were exactly 350 grains with a 100 gr tip, and they actually shot very well out to 40 yards.

I personally like to be at or above 400 grains tho.

Thanks Guys for the good information on the Quills. I just picked up a good used Excalibur Micro 355. I've been wondering about the arrow and broadhead combination in grains of weight. Since the arrows are a bit shorter than the 20" arrows.

 

I just got some 110gn brass inserts and put on a 125gn field point. Shoots perfectly. Going to try to add another 125gn to the back of it to see how heavy I can get it.

 

I've used the 335 micro now for 10 years. The first six years I used 100 grain broadheads but but experienced a consistent problem of bolt entering the heart but exiting out the liver. When I went to 125 grain no problems.

 

My micro 340 shoots Quill's extremely well with 200 grain heads. That puts me at around 450 grains. The inserts are just about impossible to get out so instead of risking damage to the shaft's, I just shoot a heavier broadhead. I hunt with BEE's and 150 grain head's so both setups weigh in nearly the same and shoot almost identical.
