under what conditions do you aim for the exit wound

id say only on quartering away shots you should ALWAYS aim for the exit wound to be right behind the shoulder..this is usually a beter shot b/c if you shoot a deer quartering away through the 2nd to last rib or last rib then youll take out the liver and 1 or 2 lungs and the heart..its always a quick leathel shot...hope i helped

i'm not sure i ever actually aim for the exit wound. but i always keep the path of the arrow in mind when i'm taking a shot.

with that in mind, if i was going to aim for the exit wound, it would be most useful to do so on a quartering away shot.
