I am on the fence with these 2 sights I am about positive I want to get the double pin sight but I have always used the direct mount and only dove tail I have used is a black gold 4 in So not very big I’m just not very use to a bigger longer sight and and want to make the right decision for spending that much money ....so I guess my question is what are the biggest pros and cons of both and which do you guys prefer and why??

I think the fad right now is dovetail! Does everyone need a dovetail? No. I think the mrt gives you the same advantage to align your peep. My 2 cents

I have the regular Fast Eddie. Wish I would’ve bought the double pin. Will probably be upgrading the head to a double pin.

Tagged. Also interested in this. I was set on getting a Tommy Hogg but thinking of the Fast Eddie XL instead. Would get the double pin. I'm thinking the dovetail would be a lot more versatile in getting a lot more exact peep alignment and/or having the option to run your sight out a lot further than fixed. Also agree that dovetail is the fad right now (like back/side bars).

I have the fast Eddie xl double pin and absolutely love it. Peep alignment is awesome. The fact that if you're going to backpack in somewhere or travel you can just loosen the know and wrap up the housing and throw it in your pack until you get to your location. It doesn't get hooked on branches and you can be somewhat aggressive. And know all you have to do it pop the housing back into place.
They come with green on top and yellow oj bottom and i had the bottom pin changed to a red fiber optic and man did it make a difference. You will be happy if you go either route.

I have the Fast Eddie XL double pin with 0.010 pins. Just mounted it on and will get the bow sighted in when I come back from my business trip in a couple weeks. But the sight seems solid. I like the looks and adjustability of the dovetail and as mentioned above you can just pull it off when storing your bow in the case (won’t fit in my case mounted) you get to where you need to be. Same would hold true when you’re out in the field.

Hey guys,

I know this thread is old and there are a few like it. One thing I didn't ever see get mentioned as a reason AGAINST the XL is that it's 3.8oz heavier. Maybe not a big deal, but if you don't think you'll take advantage of the dovetail and want to save a few bucks as well, the original might be better suited for you.

just thought I'd add for future google searchers like me with this question.

So here is something for you guys to think about when deciding between the regular fast eddie and the xl. Yes the XL is heavier, but it can be setup both longer and SHORTER than the regular fast eddie. The regular fast eddie has no adjustment for moving the sight in or out which means the only way to properly setup the MRT system is to tinker with peep sizes, and possibly make a custom size peep to get the alignment just right. With the XL you can set the sight shorter than the regular fast eddie meaning that even though it is a couple ounces heavier it will feel lighter on the bow and put less weight on the front of your bow. Yet you can still extend it all the way out and get the benefits of a larger sight radius and a more precise sight. And on top of all of that you can also move the sight in and out to fine tune your peep to MRT alignment to get it setup just right for the most accurate and precise setup possible. Personally I would highly recommend the xl over the regular.
