I've been using a 3 legged stool for most of this season and it is not at all comfortable. I'm 6'1" and my knees are too high with the current stool. Tomorrow I am going to try one of my Eskimo brand ice fishing stools that is a couple of inches taller AND has a back rest.

What does everyone else use? When I gun hunt, I use a more traditional folding camp chair with arm rests, but I was thinking a stool for bow hunting may allow shooting to the side more easily.

This is what I use. It is hard to beat. It is a bit pricey. But it is comfortable, adjustable, silent swivel and light weight. If you get a chair for bow hunting make sure it doesn't have arms on it. A lot of hunters use this chair.

I'm ok with spending good money on good gear. I've seen these at my local shop, but I never really considered them because I missed the memo that they swivel!

This is what I use from my Red Neck bale blind. Three legs all adjust for height and uneven ground. Seat swivels 180* silently and is very comfortable. I frequently hunt from the ground and have sat many uncomfortable hours on those rotten folding three-legged stools that are like the worst bicycle seat ever invented. The Red Neck seat is so much better....but it is heavier. Not the design to be just carrying out in the woods to plunk down behind a blowdown a mile in. The current price on sale is $79.95 which is a huge value for what you get.

I use one very similar to the "eskimo" style you mention for my ground blinds.

I have thought about one that swivels (Millenium, Alps, etc.) but really don't want the extra weight to carry, plus I am cheap. Some years I may have 2-3 blinds and it would be more expensive to have multiple of those more expensive styles or always carry the one, in and out numerous times.

Besides, I don't want to get too comfortable. I might miss something. LOL

Used to coach a lot of baseball at different levels. Grew fond to sitting on a 6gal baseball bucket when coaching. I use those for blinds but with a foam padded lid. Cheap and sits you up and not slouching like most chairs.

I sat on my Eskimo brand ice fishing chair today. It made a HUGE difference and was quite comfortable for the 4 hours I was in the blind. I hadn't recognized that my smaller camping stool was ~3" shorter than the Eskimo chair. However, even though it was better, it wasn't perfect. I'm going to check out the Millennium and Alps chair as well.

Normally it’s a recliner in the blind which is a permanent structure! Lol heat too! Sitting on the edge of a winter rye field! Sorry! 🤣🤣 but if I go further into state land it’s an old flip dwn that straps to tree .
