What is your favorite brand of clothing for hunting and why? If you prefer x for base x for rain please share.

I bet if I went through my tote of hunting clothes there would not be more then 2 items made by the same company
From Huntsworth to Under Armour and anything in between...camo pattern is about the same also

I might have two pairs of gloves sold by Academy Sports...their brand

I have become a big Sitka fan over the past few years. This is after years of relying on Cabelas brand or whatever I could buy from Cabelas. I’ve tried several pieces from First Lite, Sitka, Kuiu, Grey Wolf and ASAT to mention a few.

I really enjoy the Sitka stuff..almost all of it has served me well.

When it comes to Raingear, Kuiu wins hands down...haven’t found anything that comes close yet.

Love my ASAT leafy suit in the spring turkey woods.

I'm a big Sitka guy, not crazy about the camo pattern but I think thats overrated anyhow. It's super well made and performs better than expected in the field, is it expensive to overpriced,,,,,, yeah I suppose, although I dont really care about the money. (not an issue)
Maybe I'll buy all the first light gear this year just to compare.

I would love to hear your thoughts if you do buy some FL vs Sitka

I’ve worn Sitka for 11 years but purchased Predator last fall for a hunting trip. I’m fairly certain I’ll be selling my Sitka and going all in on Predator. Real good fit and quality.

Depends on weather conditions for me.

I try these ays to spend as much time as possible in Florida hunting in the heat. Frig the cold,,,,i'm too old for that ! lol

I prefer the Under Armour Heat Gear for the heat, and they have a STORM pant set thats lite and water repellent,it rains daily down here. So I use more of them than just about all the others, and I own them all,,,Kuiu,Sitka are fine,UA in the heat is better, exception being the Peleton shirt by Kuiu, it dries fast as anything I ever wore, but is made for slim people. My 17 inch arms and Italian gut aren't tailor made for Kuiu. Those Kuiu guys were athletic long and lean mountain climbers,i'm short and thick low level dweller. lol

Up north ? I start with Patagonia Capilene Expedition for a base, and layer out with mid weight fleece, I like Columbia, Arteryx and a few others and I cover up with a wind proof jacket to keep the wind out. Patagonia thermal base layer pants under a thermal pants set with suspenders. I am a fan of Raven Wear. I have so many,UA is decent, but not very warm, yet, the legs don't get cold on me. I am more concerned with toes and face. Simple wool baclava over a Primos skull cap is good.

Boots for the cold ? Pac boots no dount. Socks ? I never have fond the right mix, and i'm 62 and hunting since 1970. I give up. I sumise bigger boots and thick wool socks might help, but for me ? There is no keeping the feet warm, period.

I have Cabelas ECWS for base layer for cold weather. I have many layers of Kuiu. Fleece, softshell jacket and pants, Kutana insulated jacket, Down pants, down jacket. Each layer of Kuiu is very wind resistant. Kuiu gear is light in weight. It compresses very well. It is a great system. The downside it is $$$.

Army/Navy Store Surplus wool pants. not kidding. The fancy stuff is not tough enough. The tough stuff is not good wet for long periods of time. they are about as tough as real jeans, but wool. And green.

Scentlok for deer hunting. Nomad for turkey hunting. Scentlok makes high quality clothing whether you believe in the scent protection. Have not been disappointed. Mossy Oak Country or Terra Gila serves me well in deep South hunts.

I bought a kings camo xkg hoodie last year and was super impressed by it so I bought a bunch more. Sitka is nice but it’s too expensive for me. First lite is nice too but just a little outside my price range also.

Some of you must have a lot more money wrapped up in your clothes than in your bows. I had an itch for something new in sitka or kuiu in the last few months, really wanted to try it. I thought surely there has to be something with a discount on the net somewhere. Nope! Nothing! I just can’t do it.

Used to do that camo thang. Now it's Rustler Jeans in tan with a black tie dye. Tan shirt same way. Wool plaid anorak, wool sweaters in olive drab. Do have a camo boonie from the surplus store but had to de-scent the fragrance out of it. My gotchees(unnerwear for you non-polacks-and I can say it cause I are one) are black polypropylene unless it's warm. Then I wear light boxers.(go ahead...wash your eyes out with bleach). Seriously camo is fine and some of that new stuff is fine, but for us retirees that folding green is more scarce now.

Mostly Sitka, for whitetail in late October, through November. For early season it's mostly cheap green and brown pants with flannels. Turkey, mossy oak...

What ever is on sale. Most of my hunting cloths are basic cotton pants and shirts. Some gortex outers. Most is 10-20 years old. I do have wool long johns and an Iwom for cold sits. Otherwise most of the high dollar stuff is over rated to me. Not knocking anyone that chooses higher dollar stuff. There are times on remote mountain hunts that light weight matters to me, but that's about it for needing anything expensive. The camo pattern is the least important. In fact, my go to coat is a water fowl pattern.

One of the few times camo pattern is important to me is highly pressured public land turkeys I hunt a lot of turkeys and there is a big difference between turkeys in different parts of the country on different types of land. It took more than a few lessons of birds picking me off to figure this out. For most hunting situations camo pattern is not important I agree but high pressured turkeys are different.

i have a mix of first lite, sitka, kuiu, and some asat. rain gear is hands down kuiu for the money.... it's the only rain gear of the top brands i feel i get my money's worth out of.... that being said, i'm buying some kryptek takur rain gear soon for this coming season, it's one i have been curious about but hesitant to buy because of the cost, and not going with what i know works.

merino tops, i like asat the best, it's comfortable from the start and fits well (their knarr pants are good too, same material as the original ascents, which i liked a lot more than current ascents) for actual base layer merino, minus 33 is my favorite, seems like the toughest merino and well priced.

i have been favoring first lite for everything else the past few years, and i have a few of their merino shirts i like as well. big fan of the obsidian pants for their versatility and being silent... not the toughest pant, but they live long enough i still like them. i also like first lite cipher better than any camo pattern.... not that i care about camo patterns much, but it blends in well and doesn't look so trendy as many patterns do these days.... it seems like verde and optifade have become a fashion, and i try to avoid those patterns when possible, but both companies build stuff i like, so i own some of each.

plan on buying some other kryptek altitude stuff this year to fill the gaps (of course they are made up gaps at this point, but that's ok)

another clothing item i love late season is my kifaru lost park parka, that thing kicks ass for glassing when it's cold out... it's like the equator. i think i may get the pants too, there will be no such thing as chilly if i have that set on. i certainly don't have a favorite camo brand... if i had to pick, it would be first lite, but there is no reason to be brand loyal, it's impractical.

I just put on a cheap leafy suit over anything. Never did look at brand names, just prices. The most I've bought of one brand has to be from army surplus, if that could be considered a brand name.
