NWTF Maine, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick will be holding the first International Wild Turkey Youth Camp this April in Sebego Lake Region of Maine. This is a JAKES event and the first of its kind. Parents/kids teams of 2 will take in the friday classroom setting wild turkey hunting camp, Saturday will be the open youth season, Sunday will be LL Beans day and Monday the parent and kids get to hunt together on the opening general season where they both can harvest a bird. This will mean 20-22 first time turkey hunters (father/son or mother/daughter teams) will get to hunt wild turkeys and the best part they will be hunting them together on fully guided hunts supported from NWTF. Several of us from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick will be making the trip to volunteer our time for this 4 day event. Maine State NWTF members have been putting alot of time into this event, and we would like to Thank them for that. As well 3 NWTF members from Maine will be putting on several wil turkey hunting demonstrations/calling at the Halifax Nova Scotia outdoor/sports show in March. Nova Scotia doesnt have Wild Turkeys, New Brunswick has wild turkeys coming in from Maine, but the population is too low to hunt. We hope one day to have wild turkey hunting in Eastern Canada.
