I got a traditional wooden recurve bow for Christmas! It has a 20 pound draw weight. I have a finger tab. I am shooting bare bow. From 20 yards, I pick a spot where I'll be able to hit the target (below the target), then use the tip of my arrow to aim at the area I have picked out. Draw the bow back, anchor, then let the arrow go. I make sure my form is correct.

Is there anything else I should do/know? Up to this time I've only shot a compound and would like to shoot both well.

Second on push podcast video. Also check out Ryan Senpei tuning tips on the stalker stick bow website, very informative.
