Hi Guys,
I'm looking to see if anyone has used and had any luck with any fletching debonders. I am sick of scraping off fletchings and am wondering what others use? Also are there any products out there to debond fletchings on wraps?? I like to wrap arrows, but I'm sick of having to completely strip all fletchings and wrap off with each flecthing repair. Any advice greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Bill

im fairly new to the whole arrow building thing, but ive used acetone on the fletching glue. just buy a mason jar with a lid and 1 qt of acetone. put the acetone in the jar and strip 99% of the fletching off then let the shaft soak in acetone for about 30 min. the the rest will just rub right off, the only problem with this is that it will take the wraps off as well. as for any product that has been able to save the wrap and remove the fletching............... cant say that ive heard of any thing like that before. the wrap as we all know has glue on the back and the acetone or any other cleaner will remove the glue as well as the fletching. hopes that this helps, a little.

I use isopropyl alcohol after I scrape the arrow with a dull razor blade. I also use one of the light grit sanding sponges.

Seems to work just fine for me.

As far as stripping fletching off an arrow that has a wrap, I do not think there is any other way to strip with ruining the wrap.

DEbonder?

I do not use wraps, so cannot comment on removing them. However, if you will buy some Goat Tuff Debonder, it works great. Take a dull knife and remove your vanes or feathers. Then take your debonder and wet the remaining areawith the base of your fletch and glue. It does not take much, but it makes the base and glue soft and easy to remove. (with same dull knife) But, I have only used it to remove Goat Tuff glue, so I do not have any idea how effective it will be on other brands. Probably will work well. Check with the manufacturer
