I use 5" left wing feathers. 2 degree offset. I know that plastic vanes are easier to handle but nothing beats feathers. The feathers have much more surface area than vanes. The ridges grab the air and stabalize the arrow better. I shoot a hot bow.
80 lbs. 28-3/4" 2514's. Over 300 ft. per sec. Properly tuned I shoot same point of impact with field points and broad heads. When you put a broad head on an arrow you add wings to the front of that arrow. You need good fletching to control and stabalize your arrow. Feathers are lighter than vanes, but they do slow your arrow down alittle more than vanes because they grab so much more air. The two equal out but you end up with much better stability with feathers.

Mloncar,

I have seen the x-wings last week for the first time. Look quite good and the guy shooting them is quite pleased with them too. :) .

Are they commercially available or is this just something they are making for themselves and the people asking for it? If they are for sale, where can I get some of these? Some people in my club are interested to buy some but we have no clue where to get them and Slovenia is a little bit to far to get in the car and get some. :(
Could you post some more information on this. (Pictures, colors, lengths,...)?

I use the small vanes outside if it's windy or wet. They work great as long as everything is all tuned up. It's also very hard for my shooting buds to hit my arrows cuz they are very hard to see in the target. :)
