I would like to put in food plot. But need some idea's what would be best for whitetail in the fall. I have a area that get's full sun and that is mostly sandy soil. Right now switch grasses is growing. I live in mid Michigan. Can only get to plot area by walking. So anything I do will have to be done by hand.

Depending on how sandy your soil is you could plant a few different things. One of the easiest things I have found to plant is rape and turnips. With a little rain they will start to grow in just a few days and the plant will get huge, provided that you use some lime and fertilizer. The deer, depending on the food in the area will hit it early if there is not much food around. I have seen the two different extremes. Around our house where they have plenty to eat the wont eat it much until it gets a hard frost, then it is amazing how much they like it. On our other property there is not much to eat and they will start eating it as soon as it starts to grow. Evolved harvest has something called throw and grow which is basically the same their easy plot but it comes in a smaller bag. It has some type of rye grass, clover, and brassicas (rape+turnips) and they eat it here from the middle of september right on thru winter. For the money it is the best. White clover is also always a good choice. Grows in just about any soil and the deer LOVE it. relatively easy to plant to. In areas where you cant get a tractor, if you can get a drag of some kind in there just to break up the soil a little, then throw it down just before a good rain it'll put it in the ground the 1/2 in. it needs to germinate. Another alternative is to spread straw over it after you put it down. Gives it the 1/2 in mentioned above and some extra nutrients as the straw breaks down. You can get the clover seeds (usually) alot cheaper than name brnad stuff too.
